Overview
One of the obvious signs of facial aging is a droopy and saggy cheek with prominent jowl and obtuse chin-neck angle. Traditional facelift remains the gold standard to rejuvenate an aging face especially in advanced cases. However many patients feel reluctant to undergo a formal facelift, especially if the severity of the facial aging is only mild to moderate. Some patients also prefer a less invasive surgery with rapid recovery time. Thread lift/ ribbon lift provide an alternative in mild to moderate cases with shorter operation time and recovery time.
Objectives
To lift and tighten the saggy and loose facial skin without the need for the major surgery of formal facelift
POST-OPERATIVE EXPECTATIONS
• Treat and stabilize all existing medical conditions, if any
• Stop smoking at least one week before surgery
• Stop one week before surgery
- All supplements that contain vitamin E, ginseng, ginko, garlic, fish oil and other ingredients that encouarge bleeding during surgery
- Medicine that exacerbate bleeding during operation such as aspirin, NSAIDs and warfarin. Consult the physician who prescribed the medicine.

Technique:
1. Endotine® Ribbon Facelift: Endotine® Ribbon is a device made of medical grade biodegradable polymer. The device is inserted through a small incision in the temporal area behind the hairline. The ribbon is passed under the cheek skin and engaged the deeper layer of cheek tissue. When the ribbon is pulled upward and backward, the saggy cheek and neck skin will be lifted along the same vector to achieve lifting and tightening of facial skin.
2. Silhouette® Thread Lift: Small incisions are made in the temporal area behind the hairline. The threads are inserted and engaged the soft tissues in the cheek and jowl. The thread are pulled and anchored in the temple. The sagging skin in the cheek and jowl is pulled in the upward and backward direction to achieve lifting and tightening. Another product, Silhouette Soft®, can be used to enhance skin tightening and volume enhancement in the face with the need of any skin incisions.

Recovery
• Minimal swelling of the cheek 3-5 days
• After shower dry the scalp wounds by gently applying clean towel
• Sutures on the scalp are removed after 7 days
• Scars are concealed within the hairline and is not visible
• With time the ribbon will be resorbed but the face will remain in the lifted position.
• On average, results can last as long as 1.5 to 3 years
